Volunteer's Week 2025

At Pointer, volunteering is a core part of how we give back to the communities that we live and work in. This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the 43 hours our team dedicated this quarter to a wide range of causes. From mentoring and mental health support to grant writing and sustainable flower farming, the Pointer team has used their skills and time to make a meaningful impact.

Here's a glimpse of our recent volunteering efforts:

Richard and Becca are both Cranfield Trust volunteers and have recently been supporting the mental health charity Many Minds. This project has been to help the charity to develop their business plan, so that it can support more people in the local area through performing arts-based workshops and other creative practices.

Charles hosted a one hour micro-placement through Not Impossible to answer questions on a career in consultancy, the impact of AI on consultancy, recruitment and interview technique. "Thank you to Not Impossible for a very well run process and comprehensive briefing, ensuring all parties got the most out of the session."

Becca and Lucy have helped Green Schools Project with social value reporting metrics following the introduction of the new social value model. This reporting is essential for demonstrating the tangible benefits and wider community impact of Green Schools Project’s work, allowing the organisation to
clearly articulate the social and environmental value it delivers.

Alice participates in the UWE Women Like Me mentoring programme, which pairs women with a background in engineering with female engineering students to provide guidance, support, and encouragement to navigate their future career paths.

Devanshi got in touch with Smart Works Bristol, who help women struggling to find employment, to offer grant writing support after attending Imogen Franklin's talk at an International Women's Day event. Devanshi is currently working with Imogen to write an application for a significant grant that could increase the number of women Smart Works can support in the coming years.

Ben has provided business mentoring and support through Digital Boost. He is currently delivering strategy formulation and general business support for a company in its early stages.

Emma stepped away from the office to volunteer on a local flower farm at Wye Organic, she says "It was a refreshing change that helped me reconnect with nature and gain unexpected insights. I learned about sustainable flower farming practices, including the environmental impact of conventional methods and the benefits of organic, local growing."

Volunteering not only allows us to give back, but also to build connection, perspective, and
purpose, both within our teams and with the communities we support.
